OMG NOOO!!! You have GOT to be kidding me!!

Sit down please, I don't want to shock anyone. However after reading this headline at the above linked Washington Post? I had to share it:

Nominee's Rulings Lean Right

How could this happen? How was this missed? You mean a Conservative Republican Judge actually "leans" right?

I hope CNN gets right on this as breaking news....

Becareful as the article also states....yes there is more...he has a *GASP*

a liberal streak on economic regulation and labor issues; in those matters, he was significantly to the left of the average, according to the study.

Yeah, but it's how he "dresses" that is the most telling ;-)

lmao

With the way this has gone? It wouldn't surprise me if this was brought up by someone. It already came close with some comments on the way Roberts' son was dressed.

I'd agree with you Jill but I would also admit I wrote tongue in cheek about how the way Roberts kids acted on tv demonstrated there was no way he was a "real conservative". So I'd have to also admit while I was having fun with it that to take it beyond that is wrong. Just as I don't believe what his wife does or believes in should be a huge issue. She's not going to be the one ruling from the bench so while I'm sure they talk, most married couples don't agree on everything. Look at me as an example I actually have married Republicans - lol

Looks to me that he may actaully decide cases based on fact of law and not on whims of political parties.

This is just me, but I rather have a judge that follows the law (even though the decision may be not to my liking) than a judge would bases his/her decision on political agenas. Roberts looks to me a guy that will uphold the law regardless of his personal feelings.

Hope I'm right or I will look completely foolish. Though that hasn't stopped me in the past.

I agree with you on that C so we'll both be foolish that old "misery loves company" type thing - lol

My only concern is his age. He will have a huge impact on the Court given we can predict he will probably be there for at least 40 years. As a nomination for Justice that was a concern, being Chief Justice it is even more of a concern. While I don't suggest we only have Justice's that are approaching retirement as a rule, given we really don't know what kind of a Justice he will be? It's not going to be a simple matter of a few years of him if he turns out to not be an ideal Chief Justice.

Lisa,

I think that you may have misunderstood the "dressed" remark.

Gentleman's tailors, when tailoring a man's trousers, will customarily ask the gentleman if he dresses right or left.

They want to know where he "parks his package..."

:-)

HT, ummm that is something new for me so I admit I was thinking "dressed" in the literal sense.

Wow...I learned something new about where a "package is parked"

hehehe
