I got this email this morning so for all of you Toledoans...am passing it on because I think Dave would do a great job as a Toledo City Councilman.
Dear Blog Readers:
Thank you for taking the time to read this short letter. I know you have a lot of things competing for your time, so I appreciate you reading this.
My name is Dave Schulz and I'm running for the Toledo City Council. You received this email because a friend of mine was asked to share it with their good friends (including you!)
What I want from you is your vote next Tuesday, September 13th.
I'm running for the City Council because the current crowd down at city hall seem stuck in the past. Toledo needs to reform our represenation to hold our elected officials more accountable, and we need new and creative ideas to help revitalize our economy and protect Toledo's future. I care deeply about Toledo, and I want to see it prosper. That's why I'm running.
They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing (the same way) over and over again and expecting a different result. Well, I say it's time Toledo stop this insanity and try new approaches to solving our problems. Creative change is the only way to make sure that we have the family-wage jobs for Toledo to thrive.
Please check out my website at www.davidschulz.com for more about my ideas.
You know your friend wouldn't have sent this to you if they really didn't believe in me and what I stand for. I hope you'll believe in me too, and will vote for Dave Schulz next Tuesday, September 13th.
Thank you for your consideration.
Dave Schulz

Dave's site is very carefully constructed, and he has some good/noble ideas.
Over all, he appears a damn sight better that what passes for some of our Council representatives now.
I especially like his idea of eliminating the very post he seeks, as we have too many councilmen (Betty Schultz's preferred title), especially when compared to Lucas Co.
We cold do a whole lot worse than Dave (and in many cases, we have)...
I agree HT and I wish I could vote for him, as I would which is why I posted this here as I really do believe he deserves to be elected to city council.
I appreciate the fact that he has continued to answer any questions I have knowing that I am not a potential voter. That to me speaks volumes about the type of person he is. While I do have a large readership it's not to the point where I am any kind of a major influence and I've been honest in my admission that over half of my readers are not from Toledo. Yet he has responded person to person with no expectation of support from me. Most politicians only do something when the expect something in return. He is one of those rare ones like Frank that I do believe really does care.
I, too, am intrigued with Dave Schulz. The Republican Party has turned me off since it became wedded to the cultural conservatives.
I was always a fan of the Jack Kemp/Steve Forbes wing, which is all but destroyed (McCain notwithstanding).
Schulz seems to be of this mold.
