Frankly I've had enough of both. If there was ever one topic on the blogosphere that has created such a never ending tit for tat extreme behavior on both parts it's this whole Cindy Sheehan story.
Try to talk on a more "moonbat friendly site" and you are accused of being a Bush supporter and somehow trying to discredit poor Cindy if you dare to point out that making this be about the Bush twins isn't a reasonable goal.
Have some points to make on a "wingnut friendly site" and you are accused of being one of those limp wristed sort that supports terrorists if you dare to point out she has the same right to protest that anyone does.
The wingnuts care about what Cindy's family has to say, the moonbats don't think they matter. Both sides demonstrate they don't care about anyone else's point of view except the one they agree with.
So, my message for both sides? Knock it off, Cindy Sheehan is not Rosa Morgan, nor is she an anti-American Traitor.

I think it high time someone with a relative lost in combat come forward to protest this unnecessary war.
The Right thinks the media are against them. However, the only stat we hear from the media refers to those who have been killed.
There are NO stats on the numbers who have been critically and forever maimed, both physically and mentally.
All in the name of revenge against a country that had done nothing to this country.

What irritates me is both sides using the exact same tactics yet each one declaring to be the one in the right. Reality is both are right on some parts and wrong on others.
dawghaus, I have no problem with anyone protesting the war, I was once a hippy type protestor myself back in the olden days. My problem is with the spin on both sides.
Whether you believe the war was unnecessary or not, both Democrats and Republicans voted to give this President the ability to go to war. The proper way to end this would be thru them, not standing out on a road near Crawford. But if that's the way she wants to do it? That is her right as an American Citizen.
Both voting for it was why I wanted Daschle to lose and only supported Kerry because I liked Bush less.
I talk about this story in a larger sense that Bush just doesn't get it. He does not believe that his actions could ever hurt anyone because they are always just. From tax cuts to the military, the people he associates with are neither in need of more money or at risk to be deployed anywhere. He could stop it all by giving 5 minutes to say I understand and take time to explain his plans to all of us. Instead, he thinks we should just accept him as right because he said he was

I don't think this is the way to do it. I think if she really wants it to end the key is Congress, not the President. Camp out on the doorstep of every single Republican and Democrat who voted for the war in Iraq. Pressuring them then they pressure him and they have the ability to shut things down if they don't get what they want. That to me would be the way to end this if you really wanted to.
She was quoted on the radio as saying she was glad he hadn't talked to her as it would ruin the momentum of her protest.
OLBERMANN: Last question. It‘s pure politics. The nature of the media coverage you‘re getting now, the response from other families of soldiers killed in Iraq, all of that, from the perspective of your protest there, in a way, isn‘t it really better if President Bush doesn‘t meet with you?
SHEEHAN: I would think so, yes. I think it‘s great. And if he would come out right now, it would really defuse the momentum, and I don‘t want to give them any hints. And I think that‘s something they‘ve probably already thought about.

Chuck Todd on "Hardball" pointed out last night that Bush's people could have ended this before it started by pulling her in and talking to her from the first day. The story would have gone away.
The Bush people created her in the media, and the media loves a story like that.
Where the Right really screwed up was when they started calling her vicious names (she looks like an average person), and saying she "flip flopped" (which is bizarre- because anyone has a right to change their mind) and pointing out she already met with him before (irrelevant).
They should have just brought out a pro-Bush mom and put her on the talk shows, which is what they started doing yesterday. It may be too late for them.
I read your comments to John and glad you, again, visited. I agree it would place our soldiers more in harm's way if the Bush twins were serving. Also, this has become a media, political, circus but most protests are mishandled and usually do. Seems we'd learn. Strangely, I thought of Madonna and her ' Like a Prayer ' video wherein I think she could have done so much with it, but lost it, and how this mother's anguish and intent, hopefully, is now a lost cause as well. IMHO.
That's true Steve, it hasn't been handled well on both sides. However I expected the character attacks since that seems to be what it's become. We have groups going way above what is necessary to attack John Roberts, we have groups going way above what is necessary to attack Cindy Sheehan. The idea of civil discourse aimed at a resolution seems to escape some on both sides of the political spectrum.

Hey I think the NARAL attack on Roberts was wrong, for sure. I have to tell you, though, Sheehan is growing on me, and that's just me. The more i know about her, the more i like her.
I'm feeling the opposite way, after reading what she's written on Kos and the article by Mike Ferner. However I have had confirmed for me that neither Kossacks or Freepers are interested in free speech. If you don't parrot their line they both behave as wild pack animals. Given the whole disagreement with the "you are either with us or against us", I continue to shake my head in amazement as I watch them.
Today's ending line from her demonstrates where this is at now.
"George Bush: you work for me. I pay your salary. Come out and talk to me. Anyway, I have a feeling you are about to be fired!!!"
That along with her claim she's not going to pay income tax until Bush brings her son back, it's to the point where I'm tuning her out because her statements are really starting to be out there rather than focusing on what her intent is supposed to be about, ending the war in Iraq.
