Ketchup...

No this is not some secret attempt to bring John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry into being discussed. It's been a hectic day and then I started working on another article for Watch Blog, (not posted yet) so to give myself a break from that, I started thinking as I made myself something to eat.

Who else eats Ketchup on their scrambled eggs? My children freak out when I do, but that's how I enjoy them. Then of course I started to think of where did ketchup come from? Who invented it? Is it really Ketchup or Catsup?

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, those of you who also want to know the history of something I feel life would not be complete without can visit here:

I was amazed to discover there was psychological side to ketchup - lol:

If you want to learn the more about a person, look no further than how they pour their ketchup. From dippers and squirters, to sprinklers and smotherers, psychologist Donna Dawson has identified seven "sauciological" types.

Those who dunk into a well of ketchup are methodical and trustworthy. But they may also be control freaks who are afraid of change. Ambitious people splodge their sauce in the middle of their food. Creative types squirt and swirl their sauce in thin lines. But deep down they are impatient and do not tolerate fools or time wasting. Those who dot their ketchup are friendly, but live conservatively and dream of adventure holidays. Smotherers are the life and soul of the party, while artists who draw faces and words on their food have an easy-going approach to life. And gourmets who keep ketchup in a cruet appear charming, but deep down may be snobbish social charmers.

I left you a hint as to which one I am...

LoL and thanks. Surely do learn something new everyday. I both dunk and spodge. Gee, this analysis mucho betterohhh than horsiescopes. (wink and smiles) Hmmm, I'll have to re-check. A scientific study ? Ketchup or Catsup ? Doesn't matter as long as there's plenty. Mayo on a hamburger ? Yuck ! Slam-dunk ! :)

My evil cousin puts ketchup on pizza and prime rib. I could forgive him for the pizza, but doing that to prime rib is unexcusable

lol--I thought it was an interesting psychoanaylsis too Faith,

Rest assured me4 I would never do that to prime rib, that must be enjoyed au natural....(I do confess if there hasn't been enough sauce on the pizza).....

My wife ( http://sheabirdno1.blospot.com )eats ketchup on anything.

I....however....do not! There's something too sweet about it. Gives me heartburn.

You know, I rarely eat catsup, other than on the occasional hot dog.

Dottie's comment, though, reminded me of Bill Knapp's. They used to put catsup on top of their meatloaf and bake it.

Sounds a little gross, but the crusty-crispy catsup on the sides of the meatloaf was actually pretty good.

That is the only way I like meatloaf, historymike. I usually reserve ketchup for hamburgers, hot dogs, and fries.

Ketchup, mustard and sugar mixed together and baked on top of a meatloaf? The ultimate...it's mainly Ketchup but just a bit of mustard to give it a bit of a zing and a small amount of preferably brown sugar. I have to make extra when I make meatloaf for those who feel it is the proper extra sauce.

:-)

Ketchup is also good on the leftover meatloaf sandwiches too.

Stuffed cabbage and stuffed peppers are also good with....Ketchup

:-)

However I do draw the line at such strange dipping as pizza in ranch salad dressing.

My younger two are ranch dipping pizza types. I tried it, but then I guess you'd have to be a ranch dressing fan.

We have this local place here called Vito's that has "crust toppers" that are pretty cool and I do love a nice bready type crust with some olive oil, seasoned or? extra virgin...

hmmm another thought for another day olive oils...lol

Hey, I always used to dip my french fries until Miguel moved in with us and showed my the wonder that is smothering them---what does that say?? Did I become less ambitious or become better at being the life and soul of the party?

Ranch dipping sauce for pizza is something I hadn't seen up until a few weeks ago. Not a fan.... but ranch sauce for bacon-and-cheese-drenched french fries? Absolutely incredible (I can almost feel my arteries clogging in excitement)
