As the Rove plot thickens....

From the above linked article:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- For two years, the White House has insisted that presidential adviser Karl Rove had nothing to do with the leak of a CIA officer's identity. And President Bush said the leaker would be fired.

Rove described the woman to a reporter as someone who ''apparently works'' at the CIA, according to an e-mail obtained by Newsweek magazine.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan refused to discuss the matter at two news briefings Monday. He said he would not comment because the leak is the focus of a federal criminal investigation.

Much ado about nothing? Or will it end up being something more? I'm not going to speculate except to say I'll be glad when the investigation is finally over. Maybe then we'll have some real answers.

I just don't like Karl. Besides being a crusader, he learned his dirty tricks in the Nixon years and has become better at them than Nixon's people ever were.

I don't think he will be fired. That would be worse for liberals because he would become the martyred conservative who we tried to take down. I think they should keep him on but under 24 hour surveillance to make sure he doesn't disclose any other classified info.

I say, let's see where everyone is after all the dust is settled and all the balls have been picked up. Then we will see who gets the better book deal on this next year.

Jaded? Yes, but you'll see it will be like I say. (Yoda mode turn off I must)

Brew, it's not lame to link to your own posts

:-)

I also agree with you, Daniel and think sending her to jail was a waste of time since it was obvious she is not going to reveal her sources and Time already revealed Coopers.

I don't know if he will be fired or not me4, I think if it ends up proven that he is really the leak? He should be fired.

Like my good friend C, being Yoda - lol I think speculation at this point while a way to pass the time? Isn't really anything definite until we have some answers.

Yes, it's a wait and see, however, I dislike Rove, too. If he's in this as deep as I dare believe or speculate ? Hope he goes and I, for one, won't regret. Devil in the details might apply here.

Very true Faith, the devil is almost always in the details.

I still have a hard time believing Rove would be that stupid though, he is an expert at what he does, so if it is proven he was the leak? He either got sloppy thru ego or really messed up, that is not typical "Rove". Already some are stating since he didn't use a specific name that he really didn't out her.

I don't believe that he is that stupid to just leak it without thinking, but I think that if they can keep him out of trouble through semantics, it is a huge warning shot not to mess with the administration.

He isn't a criminal genius, he just does enough so that his intent can't be proven. Like finding a bug in his office and blaming Democrats. I think he thought this would just blow over and people would know not to mess with him. He will get off because he never used a name. I just hope that people see the pattern of unethical behavior

I agree Rove isn't stupid or foolish. Has also kept his ' ego 'under wraps in this administration. Guess I'm simply hoping to see something surface as is my opinion so much is and has been a wrap. However, if he's innocent ? Said with tongue in cheek, all things considered. :) Then, by all means, exoneration.

After thinking about Brew's thoughts about how much more dangerous Rove could be not in a limelight situation, he makes a very valid point.

But I have a feeling the grounwork is already being laid for a battle of semantics on did he really "out" or not. Which he probably will win and we will hear a whole saga about that's okay because Clinton did the whole "it depends on what your definition of is..is".

In the end, if one party can make it look like well they did it first, even it if wasn't right either time? Usually free pass time.

Is Bush smart enough to have tricked us into believing that the only thing he is behind is the learning curve?

At times I wonder is W really what he appears or has it been some ploy to be able to have the focus be on Rove and Cheney rather than him. But given today's news that Laura thinks the next Supreme Justice should be a woman, maybe she is the force behind it..No...can't be....she'd do a better job.
