Asking for Guidance....

I used to live in Swanton, in fact have considered moving back out that way from time to time. So to borrow my friend, Dorothy's creation "Swantuckian", Swantuckians have decided to add prayer to the beginnig of each City Council Meeting.

From Today's Toledo Blade

Council voted unanimously, with no discussion, to adjust its rules to include a prayer at the beginning of its regular meeting agenda, just before the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officials said the prayers will be generic rather than belonging to any particular religion.

Mayor Tandy Grubbs said the village had a Catholic priest and Lutheran and Methodist ministers develop prayers that the clergy thought were respectful.

Swanton Councilman Bob Gill proposed opening meetings with prayers several months ago to help the elected officials attain a certain mind-set, he said.

"I think it helps … to bring things into perspective, to ask for a blessing and guidance," he said after last night's meeting.

My thoughts? Hopefully it will help Swanton City Council alot more than it seems to help Congress.....

As an update...please note the new banner for the ONE organization, even if you can't donate please sign the declaration there....thanks :-)
