Clarifying one Point

It was pointed out to me and is worth mentioning that Martin Luther's original premise was to reform the Catholic Church and not destroy it. I don't disagree with that, however since he is the original creator of the statement that the Whore of Babylon was the Catholic Church I still feel he did this from a desire to bring down rather than build up point of view.

Did the Catholic Church by making to large of an issue out of Luther help to create his later animosity? I would have to say yes. However after 1520 he called upon the German princes to destroy the Vatican and the pope. If Luther had not created the theory in his writings about Revelation, Hunt and others would not have continued to perpetuate it.
